Description

We were doing some cleaning recently and had to empty a closet full of toy horses from when I was a kid. They were mostly old cheap ones that got tossed in there when we moved. Anyway, there was one that I kind of liked, so I decided I would try a repaint. I believe this model is a Chestnut Ridge model.

I left the original paint on there because it was too difficult to rub or sand off. Under this color are about three layers of white acrylic. Her coat is two layers of metallic silver mixed with white. I was originally going to just paint her silver, but she was way too shiny and didn't look real at all. Her scar is painted lightly in white on her left shoulder. Her mane, tail, and legs are painted with two coats of black acrylic. Her nose was shaded by mixing a little black to the silver/white mix. Her eyes are light blue with a tiny hint of purple. I used a toothpick to paint those. She is coated with a single layer of polyurethane sealant for protection and a little bit of gloss.

Her horn was made by dremilling a wooden dowel rod, and Connor ( ~6inger13read4ssassin ) takes all of the credit for that. I love the spiral he put in it. He also drilled the hole in her forehead so I could glue the horn into her head and secure it. The horn is painted with a layer of white, pearl white with a little bit of light blue dabbed on. The horn is also coated with a layer of polyurethane.

Photos taken in my backyard.

Ashley, she looks amazing. Well done indeed, and Connor did a fabulous job on the horn! Are you going to do Thomil, too?
